Reflections on Media Sensationalism
I pulled this image off the FoxNews website. They're using this as their tag for the Minneapolis bridge collapse tragedy. Am I the only one who things this is disgusting and shameless? I think we are all aware of the sensationalism that's prevalent in the media, but at what point does it become too much? Of course, the question becomes who is really to blame? They push this sensationalism because it sells, which means that people buy into it. Is the media to blame or are we?

I blame US (that's us in capitals, not the U.S. of A). The Media is huge a business and businesses sell their products in a certain way to accommodate their target audience. If news channels actually reported factual non-sensational news...it wouldn't sell. If you don't believe, look at the profits of the Washington Post compared to a user-friendly paper like USA Today. We want our news like we eat fast food: fast, easy, sense-driven, and high in FAT (also known as False and Accurate Truth).
