Reflections on Baseball Road Trip

My apologies to everyone who have been waiting for a new blog entry. I know that I'm a complete hypocrite now for not having posted for more than two weeks. My bad. Really there hasn't been much to write about. I guess I could have spewed out something frivolous in the meantime. Oh, well. Anyway, the last few days I've been on the road. Thursday I drove with my dad and brother-in-law to St. Louis and attended a ballgame at the new Busch Stadium. In all, I spent about 20 hours in a car in order to see 4 hours of baseball. You may call it obsession, but it's just devotion to the greatest game on the planet.

The new stadium in St. Louis is really nice. It was right downtown, and it had some great views of the Arch and the city from the outfield. We saw them play the Reds, which was in itself depressing because they played like junk. I can't remember the last time I've been to a game that the Reds actually won.

Reflections on the Y

Today I started my new part time job at the YMCA, and I love it! Technically, I'm Member Services Assistant, but really I'm sitting behind the front desk all day, answering phones, swiping people into the building, and signing up new members. It's sweet. Basically, this job is exactly what Kathi and I need right now because with all of the support raising we wanted something that would be too demanding. Hole in one.

Tomorrow I'm going in an hour early in order to swim some laps and work out a little bit. The real test will be how long I'll be able to keep that up. We really wanted this job because it comes with a free membership. It's a mystery whether I'll actually take advantage of the perk. But, I have good motivation - namely, I'm getting fat.

Reflections on Easter Bunny Madness

Happy Easter, everyone! Yeah, isn't this picture awesome! The bunny suit is inhabited by my step-mother, and the baby is my newborn nephew, Gavin. Kathi and I have decided to start setting money aside that will go to Gavin's eventual psychological counseling.

In all seriousness, I hope everyone had a wonderful and contemplative Easter. I pray along with Paul that, "the eyes of your heart may be enlightened that you might know...his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is like the working of his mighty strength, which he exerted in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms." (Ephesians 1:18-20)

Reflections on Blogging Wives

It's official: I have finally sucked my wife into the narcissistic world of blogging. Ever since I've started doing this, whenever something funny or profound has happened to her, she's commented, "I wish I could blog this." Well, now all her dreams have come true. Join me in welcoming my wife to the blogsphere by visiting Model of Redemption. Leave lots of comments so that her first exercise in blogging is a positive one.

Reflections on the Andersens

Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Andersen! You guys are awesome. The wedding on Saturday was by far the most worshipful wedding we have ever been to. We are so honored to be a part of it. Thanks guys!
